Cartier Santos Galbee Small Quartz Watches

The original Cartier Santos watch, created in 1904, was the one of watches designed specifically to be worn on the wrist. Louis Cartier manufactured the original Santos watch for his friend Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont. The renown aviator was searching for a more easily accessible watch which would be more suitable for life in the air than his standard pocket watch. It was Santos Dumont, who popularized the new style of wrist watch, emerging from the cockpit of his plane after some of his most famous flying missions wearing a Cartier Watch. The relationship between the 18K Gold watch and its stainless steel strap create a unique connection resulting in a one-of-a-kind square shape in the Cartier Santos Galbee. While one can clearly view the rectangular and square shape- surrounded by stainless steel or 18K yellow gold or white gold, which the watch alternates between- as a departure from classical circular watches, there is no functionality sacrificed. The aesthetic condition of the Cartier watch is owed partly to influence from the popular Art Deco and industrial based schools of design that were the trend in architecture early in the 20th century. Over the years the Santos Watch Family from Cartier has grow to include the many different models of the original Santos watch including the Santos Galbee, the Santos Dumont, the Santos Demoiselle, and the Santos 100, which Cartier brought out as the 100 year anniversary model watch. The iconic Cartier Santos watch is reinterpreted here with the Santos Galbee where we can view a slightly curved case embellished with 18K Yellow Gold exposed screws along a stainless steel bracelet, modest and elegant in equal measures, with options of Quartz, Automatic or Manual movements within the watch. The original model of the Cartier Santos watch saw no structural break between the gold case and the attachments, fully united the gold lugs and a novel square gold case with rounded corners, a condition that is easy to view in the Cartier Santos Galbee watch. The sporty yet elegant feel of the original Cartier Santos watch is encapsulated in the Santos Galbée which artfully has united gold and stainless steel cases with silver dials and the trademark Cartier sword-shaped blued-steel hands on the watch, featuring options for both men and women alike. The Cartier Santos Galbee Watch is the perfect balance of modest and elegant in equal measures.
