Bell & Ross Aviation BR Watches

Bell & Ross is one of the newer watch making traditions to take aim at the professional and luxury watch market yet the company has already made a tremendous impact in the watch making field. The company formed in 1992 as a branch of the German watch making company Sinn. In 2002 Bell & Ross broke from their larger parent company to create their watch making path as an independent French watch company based in Switzerland, the watch making capital. The Aviation watch from Bell & Ross was originally designed specifically for pilots with the design of the dial resembling the instruments in the cockpit. The watch has gone on to become a popular watch among watch enthusiasts and others professionals operating in what can sometimes be extreme conditions such as professional divers, aviators, bomb disposal experts, astronauts, and whose lives can depend on the precise measurements of time and need accuracy above all else in their watch. The Aviation watch emphasizes functionality over the aesthetic and there are no superfluous details associated with the watch; each function plays an essential role in the watch design. The Aviation watch has a very recognizable design classic square face looking as if it was straight from the cockpit of a plane. The Aviation watch can feature either an automatic or chronograph movement with subtle differences embedded into each version of the watch. The over-sized numerals allows for clear legibility no matter the condition; Chronograph models from the Aviation watch collection feature large numerals only at the 12 and 6 o'clock hour markers in order to make room for the Chronograph feature on the dial of the watch, while the automatic watches from the Aviation watch collection feature numerals at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock hour markers emphasizing a simplistic black dial surrounded by PVD-Finished Stainless Steel Bezel, automatic Aviation watches from Bell & Ross have several options available for the color of the leather strap and dial of the automatic watch. All of the watches from the Aviation collection feature a small date function located near the bottom of the black dial. Bell & Ross watches such as the Bell & Ross Aviation BR 03-92 Carbon Stainless Steel Automatic are very much from the "military wrist watch" school of watch design, featuring a traditional black dial highlighting the automatic movement of the watch with aqua blue indices and hour markers illuminating the darkest of situations making the automatic watch easily visible no matter the condition. The blue Arabic numerals are further highlighted by all black Stainless steel bezel which is held to black steel lugs and a black rubber bracelet which comfortably yet firmly holds the watch to the wrist. The clear visuals of the different functions of the Aviation watch replicate those found in airplane dials. Other models such as the Bell & Ross Aviation BR 03 Radar Stainless Steel PVD Automatic watch have a display that closely resembles the light beam that sweeps the circular radar screen in an aircraft cockpit featuring Grey Concentric Circle Index and Arabic Numeral Dial of the watch to create the effect in the watch with PVD-Finished Stainless Steel fixed bezel. Various bracelets and straps have been introduced to fit watches from the Aviation watch line including the green Khaki Rubber strap attached to a green ceramic case, as well as a brown leather strap attached to a PVD-Finished Stainless Steel Case housing automatic movement and gold Arabic hour markers. Bell & Ross watches have become a fashionable statement as much as a professional aviation watch as a brand has grown in distinction and prestige.
